| DIVERSITY AWARENESS
This one day workshop offers an introduction to diversity, engaging
staff on what may be a new and challenging area. The workshop will
provide delegates with a definition of what diversity means, the
broad range of issues that it covers and how it relates to 'equal
opportunities'. Delegates will begin to develop an understanding
of relevant employment legislation relating to equality and diversity.
Harassment and grievance will also be explored, as well as how language
can unintentionally cause offence. The workshop will look at live
workplace simulations, set in an office environment, presenting
issues around ethnicity, disability, sexuality, gender, ageism and
bullying. The workshop aims to give delegates greater confidence
and awareness of diversity at work.
What is the Aim of the workshop?
The workshop will enable participants to:
- Have a shared understanding of diversity issues
- Understand the relevance and importance of diversity within
organisations
- Identify the barriers to valuing diversity, effective team working,
policy making and service delivery
- Identify actions to integrate diversity practice into their
role and function
Who should participate?
This one day workshop is for all levels of staff from all organisations
